Unexpected Blessings

Today was a fantastic day, a day of friends.  Church was in the morning obviously, but that was only a fraction of my day.  Robby preached this sunday and I’m glad I was here to see it as last time I missed him.  Before he preached though we showed the Theatrical Trailer for Standing Firm.  It was a bit nerve wracking for me (as always) to see my work up on a screen.  The church projector is horrible too, so that always annoys me.  Only in the dark with the settings proper does it look ok.  People clapped when Cooper’s face showed up on screen, which was awesome.  As soon as the title showed at the end everyone cheered and clapped, which felt pretty good.  Rob immediately after started preaching and was effected quite a bit by the video (which he didn’t know was going to play).  I’m glad we have a trailer now that works well.  I’m so picky about them and I love them just as an art-form, so creating one I was happy with and others were as well took months of trying, stepping away for a while, and coming back.

After church I headed to Tim Hortons with Scott and Gary, which was a rare treat.  We don’t do much together, and it was a good time of just chatting and fun.  Me and Scott had a Facebook status battle via our phones insulting each other where all the world could see, lol.  It was hilarious to say the least.

When I got home I debated whether or not to head to a birthday party for a little while and just caved and went.  I’m not a big fan of living an hour or more away from other friends I have.  It prevents me from doing a lot more things with people.  Even folks that are more local I see a time or two a week which is fine but I’m pretty much stuck down here in the sticks.

When I was at Josh’s Birthday party I met some new folks and spent time with new ones.  Before lots of people showed up a few of us went down in the basement and prayed for VOC which was going on at the moment over at the University of Buffalo.  I showed my trailer to the folks I was praying with and that turned into more than an hour of questions and software/hardware related talk lol.  Even out of that came a job possibility I had thought about a while ago but because I was moving, forgot about.  They encouraged me to put in a resume at The Chapel at Crosspoint and just see what happens.  I gave Becky Enser my DVD that had the trailer on it to take to work with her and sent me resume a few minutes before I wrote this entry.  I guess I’ll just wait and see.  It couldn’t hurt to give it a shot right?  I promised myself I would never work in ministry again, as it can be brutal at times…but if that’s what God wants, then hey!  It can’t hurt to send the resume in and see how things go right?  Plus I don’t see myself shooting another film until Spring 2011 anyways, so I either need a butt-load of web/graphics work to keep myself afloat, a film or two to work on (someone else’s crew), or a steady job of some kind.  What better than one that I can continue to build a resume and be around great people at the same time?  Did I mention this is a church I wanted all along to premiere Standing Firm at? ;)  Interesting…

Overall the birthday party was fantastic.  I met a lot of great people, had a lot of fun, and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
